These mediators activate the skin’s natural repair processes, resulting in neo-collagenesis — the formation of new collagen fibers that restore structural support to the skin.
Neo-collagenesis occurs when fibroblasts — the key cells in the dermis responsible for producing collagen and elastin — are activated by heat. Once stimulated, fibroblasts increase the synthesis of collagen (which strengthens and thickens the skin) and elastin (which improves elasticity), supporting tissue remodelling and the formation of firmer, smoother, more resilient skin.
