FAQ
Alma ClearLift is a highly advanced non-ablative, Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser that delivers extremely short, high-energy nanosecond pulses into the dermis to rejuvenate the skin from within—without damaging the surface. Using powerful photoacoustic (mechanical) energy rather than heat alone, ClearLift targets pigment, vascular components, and water in the tissue, treating multiple concerns simultaneously while stimulating deep collagen remodelling with no downtime.
1. Photoacoustic (Mechanical) Energy
ClearLift’s Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser emits ultra-short nanosecond pulses, generating a photoacoustic effect—a mechanical shockwave that delivers energy deep into the dermis without relying on surface heat. This allows ClearLift to:
- Shatter pigment particles (melanin or tattoo ink) into microscopic fragments
- Break apart deep pigment without overheating the skin. There is minimal thermal energy delivered to the surrounding tissue, so the epidermis and dermis are largely spared from heat damage.
- Target both superficial and deep pigmentation safely
- Preserve the epidermis while working in the dermis
The fragmented pigment is then naturally cleared by the body’s immune and lymphatic system, progressively evening skin tone and improving clarity.
2. Fractional, Non-Ablative Dermal Injury & Deep Collagen Remodelling
In addition to pigment targeting, ClearLift produces fractional, non-ablative micro-injury zones within the dermis. These controlled injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, activating fibroblasts and stimulating neo-collagenesis—the production of new collagen (types I and III) and elastin fibers.
- Neo-Collagenesis: The process where the dermis produces new, healthy collagen fibers to replace damaged or aged tissue, improving firmness, elasticity, and overall skin structure.
- Fibroblasts: Key structural cells in the dermis responsible for producing collagen, elastin, and extracellular matrix components that support hydration, bounce, and skin integrity.
This deeper dermal remodelling leads to:
- Improved firmness and dermal skin tightness
- Enhanced dermal density and elasticity
- Reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and crepey texture
- Smoother, more even tone and texture
ClearLift also enhances microcirculation, oxygenation, and hydration, further supporting cellular renewal and long-term skin health. As the deeper layers of the skin repair and remodel collagen, the skin becomes rejuvenated, firmer, and naturally plumped.
3. Multi-Target Wavelength Absorption
ClearLift targets pigment, blood vessels, and water, making it effective for multiple concerns. By addressing both pigment and dermal structure, ClearLift delivers comprehensive rejuvenation for ageing, sun-damaged, or uneven skin.
4. Adjustable Depth Penetration
ClearLift offers four depth levels, enabling treatment from the most superficial layers down to deep dermal tissue. This means your practitioner can:
- Treat pigmentation at precise depths
- Strengthen collagen across multiple layers
- Address fine lines superficially and tightening deeper
- Customise every session for each concern
ClearLift addresses common concerns such as:
- Pigmented lesions (superficial and deep)
- Melasma
- Tattoo removal (black, dark blue, red, grey, yellow, orange)
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Loss of collagen and elastin
- Skin laxity and sagging (face, neck, jawline)
- Rough texture or crepey skin
- Uneven skin tone and dullness
- Solar damage, age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation
- Birthmarks and nevi
- Facial redness and minor vascular Concerns
Most clients find ClearLift very tolerable. Sensations may include:
Sensations may include:
- Mild prickling
- Light warmth or tingling
- Slight buzzing or vibration from acoustic pulses
- Loud zap/pop sounds - acoustic pulses
- Temporary warmth that may last up to 48 hours
Numbing cream can be applied to minimise discomfort if needed.
- Instant subtle glow and plump immediately after treatment
- Slight redness for a few hours
- Mild sensitivity
- Light swelling (uncommon and resolves quickly)
- A warm, flushed sensation
- Mild dryness as the skin begins its renewal process
- Occasional petechiae (tiny pinpoint red spots) due to micro-circulation stimulation, which are harmless and fade within a few days
Individual responses vary, but effects are temporary and usually resolve quickly. A more comprehensive Pre and Post Care Document is provided following treatment.
ClearLift is known as a “lunchtime laser” due to its comfort and lack of downtime as the skin remodels itself from within.
- Normal activities can be resumed immediately
- Makeup is usually fine the next day
For optimal results:
- Avoid heat, saunas, and heavy exercise for the first 24 hours
- Minimise direct sun exposure for the duration of your treatment program to prevent pigmentation changes and unwanted inflammation
- Use gentle, hydrating skincare for 5 days
- Avoid retinoids, acids, vitamin C for 5 days
- Apply SPF 50 daily
- Avoid picking or squeezing breakouts
- Stay hydrated to support collagen production
- For melasma, pigment-stabilising skincare is essential
- Skin Rejuvenation: 3–6 sessions, every 2–3 weeks
- Melasma: 6–8 sessions, every 2–4 weeks
- Superficial Pigmented Lesions: 1–2 sessions
- Deep Pigmented Lesions: 3–6 sessions
- Tattoo Removal: 8–12 sessions, spaced 8–12 weeks apart
24–72 Hours: Slight redness, mild warmth, and early dermal activation.
1 Week: Mild dryness as skin renewal begins; tone and texture start improving.
2–4 Weeks: Noticeable improvement in pigmentation, firmness, and overall skin quality.
6–12 Weeks (Peak Results): Collagen remodelling in full effect; skin appears firmer, smoother, and more even in tone.
Note: Results are progressive and cumulative; one session will yield visible results however will not achieve full skin transformation. Lifestyle, genetics, the severity of the indications being treated, adherence to minimising sun exposure, age, skincare, and session number all influence outcomes. Clients receive personalised recommendations to support skin health, immunity and to maximise antioxidant intake.

Advanced Treatment Modes
Laser Pigmentation treatment involves the use of laser technology to specifically target the pigmented lesion in the skin while leaving the surround skin undamaged. The laser heats up the pigment which is eventually drawn to the surface.
The ALMA Harmony ClearLift application uses a 532nm KTP and a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser technology to target pigmentation at different depths of the skin. KTP laser would target the superficial pigments whilst the deeper pigments are targeted by the Nd:YAG laser.
The most suitable pigmentation treatment would be decided by your skin practitioner based on your individual skin concerns.
Laser tattoo removal involves the use of laser technology to specifically target the tattoo pigments in the skin while leaving the surround skin undamaged. The laser heats up the pigment which results in a photoacoustic effect on ink particles. This leads to the shattering of the particle and is eventually removed by your body's immune and lymphatic system.
The ALMA Harmony ClearLift application uses a Q-switched 532nm KTP and a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser technology to target tattoo pigments at different depths of the skin. KTP laser would target the lighter pigments (red and orange) whilst the darker pigments (black and grey) are targeted by the Nd:YAG laser.
The most suitable tattoo removal treatment would be decided by your skin practitioner based on your individual skin concerns.
